Vocation Chalice/Crucifix Program

October 20, 2019

The chalice used at Mass is recognized by Catholics as a powerful symbol of the priesthood and the Eucharist.  Our parish will begin a new program designed to encourage parishioners to pray regularly for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. (Beginning October 20 if we have participation and commitment!)

At the conclusion of Sunday Mass each weekend, a traveling Chalice or Crucifix will be presented in the sacristy to an individual or family who has volunteered to take the chalice/crucifix home and pray and reflect on vocations.  This family or individual will use it as a focal point for daily prayer during that next week in support of religious vocations.

Along with the traveling chalice/crucifix, the individual or family will receive a laminated card with suggested daily prayers for vocations.  The chalice/crucifix will then returned the following Friday to the St. Augustine parish office before 4:00pm so it can be presented to another individual or family.
